Matt Maranian is a best-selling writer and designer who lives in Brattleboro, Vermont. He is co-author—with Tony Lovett—of the Los Angeles Times #1 bestseller, L.A. Bizarro: An Insider's Guide to the Obscure, the Absurd, and the Perverse in Los Angeles (St. Martin's Press, 1997). After nearly ten years in print, the completely revised edition, L.A. Bizarro: THE ALL NEW Insider's Guide to the Obscure, the Absurd, and the Perverse in Los Angeles, will be published by Chronicle Books in spring of 2009. He is also author of the ground-breaking, DIY style book PAD: The Guide to Ultra-Living (Chronicle Books, 2000), a critically acclaimed celebration of visionary style, outsider interiors, and collection of innovative how-to design. PAD hit the #3 spot on The Los Angeles Times bestseller list, and spawned a follow-up, PAD Parties (Chronicle Books, 2003) which elaborated on the theme. As the author of the PAD books, Matt became a popular return guest on shows for the Discovery Channel, HGTV, and the DIY Network, as well as several NPR programs. His DIY design features have appeared in ReadyMade magazine, Budget Living, Make, The Washington Post, and cutting-edge quarterly Craft magazine, for which he is a regular contributor. In spring of 1999 he and his wife opened Boomerang, an award-winning, high-style outfitter of new, used, and vintage clothing located in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont.
